Imperial Leather Foamburst | Spicy Ginger and Orange

I was recently sent the Imperial Leather Foamburst Luxurious Body Wash in Spicy Ginger and Orange which was a wonderful change as since moving house the only kind of body wash/shower gel I've been able to unpack or find is a supermarket basic shower creme which is doing nothing for my skin! I've always loved Imperial Leather products growing up especially the Foamburst line. I used to waste so much of it just by sitting down and squirting the gel out and watching it turn into a foam. Rest assured I don't waste products these days, I'm too poor for those fun and games!

So as I said, I was sent Spicy Ginger and Orange and to be perfectly honest, after looking on the website this was one of the ones I thought I would least enjoy. I'm not a big fan of ginger outside of cooking and I'm quite hit and miss with orange scented things so I really didn't think I would like this. I decided to jump in the shower and try it out anyway though and I was very pleasantly surprised! I actually really liked it. The scent wasn't too overpowering like I thought it would be, it did smell spicy but not enough to catch the back of my throat and the orange complimented it perfectly!

Before I got the foamburst through the door, I hopped over to the website http://www.foamburstgenies.com/ so I could have a nosey at what scents there were. In this new luxurious body wash range there are 7 scents. Each scent has a genie assigned to it and if you go over to the website you can watch videos on each genie enticing you. Let me just tell you, those videos are bloody hilarious! I fully recommend you go watch them all. Personally I think this is a great way to market their new products, it's fresh and exciting. It's a great way to incorporate social media into the promotion of their products through people posting the videos and talking about them.

Of course, being a Foamburst I can't write up this review without talking about the foamyness. It still amazes me to this day that it can go from a gel inside the can to a fantastically creamy foam that feels so silky smooth on your skin! The past few times I've used it, I've just been squirting it into my hand but I want to get a hold of a decent sponge and try it with that. As much as I love lathering it up in my hands, I feel the product would go a lot further if it was on a sponge or loofah.

For one squirt of the foamburst, you get so much product out of it. It comes out as an orange gel them as it turns to the foam, it expands and you are left with a lot of foam to wash yourself with! This is another reason I want to get a nice sponge to use it on, I feel like I'm wasting it by using my hands so if you have any recommendations for purse friendly decent sponges, please let me know below! ;)

How fitting that that wee squirt looks like an orange segment! I have to apologise for the photos, I'm a very unorganised person. I've unpacked my camera but didn't pack it with the cable to connect it to the computer so it's pretty much useless! Until I manage to find it in a box somewhere, I'll have to use my phone. I really don't want to do it but it's either that or don't blog and I really want to get back into it!

The genie for Spicy Orange and Ginger is called Blaise, he is intense.

When I first went on the site http://www.foamburstgenies.com I picked Brennus which made me giggle as he's Scottish like me (I'll definitely be trying his foamburst, blackberry and wild fig) although he can command a wolf pack with his brow, I can barely command my hair to sit right!

As I said I was pleasantly surprised by this scent so it's made me think about trying the other 6 even though some of them don't sound too appealing to me. Let's hope I get some birthday money and I can stock up!

Let me know below if you go to the website and which genie you chose!

Hello! Long time no see!

So the move was a lot harder than I thought it would be, I've been exhausted since. Sleeping pattern is all over the place as well so that's not helping matters. One minute it's 10am and I'm falling asleep, the next it's 3am and I'm wide awake!

Mary-Jane and I haven't got round to all the unpacking. We have done some but it doesn't look like we have! Mary-Jane's sister went into labour 5 weeks early and I've contracted gastroenteritis so it's a bit of a mad house right now. I'm hoping to get some energy back soon so I can get on with more unpacking.

I'm looking forward to getting better and getting this place sorted out then I can get back into blogging again. I have so many posts I want to write up, I just don't have anywhere to take photos yet and I haven't unpacked my camera yet!

All in good time though so thanks for sticking with me!

Moving house!

If you follow me on Twitter or we are friends on Facebook, you will have seen me stressing the past week or so about having to pack up and move house. I hate packing. I love unpacking and finding new homes for everything but that involves packing and so I must endure!

The big move starts tomorrow and I keep feeling like I haven't done a lot of packing. I have but it just doesn't look like it because the place is a mess. Trip to the tip today should take care of most of the things I'm not taking with me.

This is just a quick post to say that while I get settled in my new house, posts will be a bit all over the place. Next time you hear from me on here, I will be in my new house!

Speak to you soon x

Week 1 | Shaytober

In my excitement to get up the FABB post yesterday, I forgot that I was supposed to do my recap post of Shaytober week 1! So last tuesday was the first weigh in for Shaytober and I weighed in at 222.6 and yesterday I weighed in at 222.4. I'm pleased that I had a loss (a tiny loss) but I know I could have pushed myself A LOT more however, I also started to realise through the week that trying to do C25K and Blogilates and other exercise was just taking on a bit too much. I was waking up on C25K days in agony, I wasn't able to get tidying/packing done because I was so sore.

I know that my body will be sore for a while before it gets used to regular exercise but this amount of pain was stopping me doing day to day things so I've reigned it in. I'm going to continue doing C25K until Muj and I finish the program and I'm going to start using my elliptical and hand weights more but I think I might hold off on Blogilates until I'm a bit lot fitter. I was having to constantly modify every move and even stop throughout workouts as I physically couldn't continue. Blogilates is fecking hardcore!

I'm starting to realise that my goal of 20lbs is a pretty steep ask, so I'm just going to work as hard as I can without doing any damage to myself and see what the scales say. Watching some videos and reading the Shayloss fb page has disheartened me slightly as some people were pulling in such big numbers. I'll just need to work extra hard this week and try to get on track a bit more.

Seriously need to get back to guzzling water, I know I haven't been drinking enough. Food wise, I need buckle the fuck down and stop eating shite. I know I won't eat completely clean but I need to eat healthier. Hopefully once I've moved house, I can get into a good routine planning and preparing meals.

I'm annoyed at myself for starting out the week so great, eating well and plenty exercise but I know I pushed myself that little bit too much and for the rest of the week I lost it. From now on I'll be sticking to C25K 3 times a week then gentle but hopefully effective exercise throughout the rest of the week.

FABBGlasgow | Fanelli's Merchant City | Events

First off I need to state that I am a rubbish blogger and forgot to bring my camera to this event so all the pictures I have are ones I managed to snap on my phone (must remember camera in the future/get a snazzy new one as the one I have is falling apart!).

Anyway, FABBGlasgow was this Saturday and it was amazing! It was held in Fanelli's in Merchant City. I'm not too boned up on Glasgow, I know the city centre from the top of Buchanan Street down to St Enoch Centre and that's about it, so I had no idea what to expect. Fanelli's is actually inside Merchant Square, a lovely wee space with bars and restaurants, a beautiful indoor courtyard and when we arrived, there were lots of stalls selling yummy cupcakes, gorgeous paintings, handmade jewellery, bath and shower goodies, just lots of homemade loveliness! I'll definitely need to head back there one day.

I met up with Hailey of Hailey's Beauty World before meeting a group of bloggers at Central Station. We both suffer from anxiety problems so I'm really glad she met up with me. We spent most of the event together as well, it was nice having someone I knew I could go to. (Thanks Hailey!) I can see me spending a lot more time with Hailey in the future, she's such a lovely lass and we have quite a few things in common.

We got to the event about 20 minutes before it started so Hailey and I had a browse around all the stalls before heading up to the balcony of Fanelli's for our FABB day. I'll be honest, this event was not what I was expecting at all. I was expecting to maybe sit down and have talks from companies and I was told a week or so ago that we might get a wee goodie bag during the event. Oh boy was I wrong! As soon as we showed our tickets to gain entry to the event, we were handed a big black bag filled with goodies! I was gobsmacked. Different companies had set up stalls on the balcony and you basically went to the ones you wanted, spoke to the people there to get some more info and most of them were also giving out goodie bags. My arms were killing me by the end of the day!

I'm pretty proud of myself for resisting these delicious looking cupcakes! I saw them on the way in but tried to ignore them. I caught them later and took this wee snap then backed away slowly! Plus Mallzee had so much fudge that if I had tried both I would have felt like a wee piggy!

Next to the cupcakes was a small bundle of prizes, all you had to do was send out the tweets that were on the sheet of paper to win them! I only entered two of them as I wouldn't have used the other prizes and if I'd won, I would have felt guilty taking the prize away from someone else who would have used it! (I didn't win either of them but congrats to all the girls who did win!) PS. Don't you just love the candles in the bottles?

Now for a quick run through of the companies there (I will be posting more in depth posts about them in the next few weeks so look out for them!). In no particular order, the companies there were AppointeddDIY NailsBeauty KitchenLushMallzeeCrystal ClearIconic Body ArtThe Pokey HatTropic Skincare, and Cocoa Brown. I managed to get round most of them even if it was just for a nosey at their stall or a few minutes of their time.

The stand out stall for me had to be Beauty Kitchen. They are all about natural products, no chemicals or synthetic materials, they use local ingredients and the thing that cinched it for me was they use recycled products to store their products in. The example we were shown was their body scrub was put into old Costa jam pots (they were thoroughly washed first of course), I just thought this was such a great way of recycling, I wouldn't have though of something like that! (I can also imagine Beauty Kitchen employees sneaking about Costas pinching these jam jars like little recycling ninjas!).

I loved seeing the  Mallzee crew again and of course I had another lengthy chat with my new BFF Laura ;) I really can't wait to see this company grow and blossom into a worldwide phenomenon. I quite enjoyed the fact that were some companies there that I hadn't heard of before as well such as Cocoa Brown, Tropic Skincare and Crystal Clear. I always love finding out about new companies and trying new products so I have a wee list now (on top of the many many lists I already have).

Oh did I forget to mention that One Direction showed up as well? I jest of course, it's Hailey, Cally (ceo of Mallzee), Laura (my bff), another lovely Mallzee lady (whose name has totally escaped me, sorry!) and myself. I loved the photographers there, they had so many silly props and it was such a giggle!

Hailey and I couldn't resist the taches!

As well as the companies there were of course, lots of bloggers! I feel really bad as I didn't get to talk to as many of them as I wanted to although I managed to have a great chat with Kirsty from Rockit Style, I hope to see her more often although there is a bit of distance (she lives up north in Aberdeen and I'm here in Central Scotland!)

Excuse all the boxes in the background, I'm moving house on Friday!

Remember all those goodie bags I was telling you about? Well this is what I came home with. I am speechless! Like I said earlier, I wasn't expecting this many things in the slightest! I know some people were moaning about having to pay £10 for a ticket and not knowing what was happening but let's be honest, this is worth a whole lot more than £10! Massive thanks to all the companies and of course Tor and Ray of FABB Events for putting on such a fabby day!

I've now got A LOT of things to try out and tell you all about which will keep me busy for a good month or so! I don't even know where to begin if I'm honest, all I know is I'm waiting until I've moved house before I even think about starting on it all! I'm not going to lie there are a few things that I know I won't use so instead of letting them sit in my collection unused, I'll be putting them into a wee pile I've been making to have a giveaway!

A very late FOTD from Saturday. I mustered up the energy after FABB to go to a friend's house for a few drinks even though I was in agony and very sleepy! Brownie points please?

If you attended FABB Glasgow, leave links to your posts or videos about it below, I'd love to read what you thought of the event! I'm looking forward to attending more events in the future and hopefully I'll remember my camera next time!

Weigh In Wednesday | The 'I'm Not Surprised Again' Edition

Up 1lb this week so I'm sitting at 221.8lbs. I'm not really that surprised, only managed two C25K runs this week instead of 3 and my eating has been all over the place. I went for a wee food shop on Sunday and bought some healthy foods so I'm hoping to get back on the healthy eating as of yesterday!

BF% is up 0.3%, water is down 0.2% and body muscle is down 0.3%. Everything is going the wrong way! However, I didn't use this when I weighed in (which I should have!) but I remembered that I hadn't checked it so something is better than nothing! I will remember to do this as soon as I weigh myself next time.

I've totally accepted that my goal of getting as close to under 200lbs by my birthday is not going to happen so I'm just going to focus on getting as much exercise done and eating as best I can. Instead I'm going to try and get to 215lbs by my birthday so 6lbs in 5/6 weeks (my calendar counting abilities are shocking!) It's doable, I just need to knuckle the fuck down!

It's not difficult. I've done it before and I can do it again.

October is a go! | Shaytober & Abtoberfest

That's it, we are in October. 2 months to go until 2014. I've decided to make this my month, I'm taking part in Shaytober and also doing the Blogilates calendar this month (#abtoberfest). I'll be tweeting about them both and also posting on my blog's facebook page (AlanaGetsHealthy if you want to give it a wee like!) then each week on a Monday I will post a recap of the week; how my eating went, what exercise I did, how I'm getting on with everything. I'm also hoping to get a video up each Monday talking about pretty much the same things, how I've been getting on for the week.

I'm feeling really positive about this month, I can totally kick my ass into shape! I think one of the reasons I'm feeling so pumped up for this is that as of today I am 10 months smoke free (if you have me on any social networking sites you'll already have seen my picture about this, what can I say, I'm proud!) I feel like I have a good enough grip on not smoking now that I can get back into healthy eating and exercise.

This is the #abtoberfest calendar for the month and as I'm typing this I've already completed the Great Gatsby Workout and Dance With Me Abs and I'm just about to attempt VS Abs and BB3: Abs Abs Abs. This is going to hurt! ;)

*EDIT - I managed to get through a modified VS Abs but I felt quick sick after it so gave BB3 a miss. I don't feel too bad though as I did do C25K earlier!

Want to join me? Go for it!
