Race For Life 2014

As of today it's 22 weeks until Race For Life. That seems ages away right? But I'm not going to let that make me lazy. It might seem ages away but it's not really, it's about the equivalent of  the C25K plan done just under two and half times. Seems pretty daunting to me! I've not even finished it once!

Have no fear (I'm talking to myself here, why would you be afraid?) Muj and I are starting C25K on Tuesday. I don't think I'm prepared for the pain again but I'm also strangely looking forward to it! I miss the feeling of 'the burn' and the joy/elation/proudness I felt each time I finished one of those workouts. And so to that annoying wee podcast wifey, I say bring it!

My first goal for last years Race For Life was to raise £100 and I beat it! I was and still am so grateful to everyone that donated money. I think I might keep my goal the same for this year and anything raised above that is just a super gid bonus! The more I raise, the more I can help! My second goal is to beat last year's time of 48:50. Going into that first Race For Life, my time goal was anything under an hour so I was more than chuffed with that time. This time round anything under 48:50 will make me smile!

I've hung my medal from last year's race on my mirror above my computer so it sits right in my eyeline. Everytime I sit down at my computer I'll see it and hopefully be motivated to get my second medal. I'm kinda hoping as well that it will remind me to get off the computer every once in a while and go do something active!

I'll probably be doing weekly catch up posts with regards to my training for the race so how I'm finding C25K and more than likely pictures of my beetroot face beside Muj's slightly pink cheeks (I swear she doesn't sweat!). For now I am eagerly awaiting the email telling me I can register.

Are you taking part in this year's Race For Life? Have you ever done it before? Let me know below!

  5. I've done the race for life once and I've been thinking about doing it this year, it's so good to have a goal to work towards when it comes to fitness, also such a great cause to raise money for. Well done on getting organised ahead of time and good luck :-)

  6. I started with C25K and I liked it so much, I ran a half marathon a couple of weeks ago. You can do it!

  7. I did c25k last year and I loved it. I struggled in the later weeks though because I was jogging the 8/10 minute intervals so slowly just so that I could finish them, that by the time I had to do the 20 minute runs I had no chance because I just couldn't go any slower to compensate!

I'm restarting myself this week, and I'm planning to try and keep the pace up to avoid that this time.

Last year I ran a 5k in Cardiff and went to do the Manchester Color Run. It was all such great fun!
